Abstract: Petroleum industries unavoidably generate enormous quantity of oily sludge /oily soaked soil which constitutes a major challenge for hazardous waste management. Thus if such high concentration of oil sludge is disposed off directly on land then it can cause negative impact on environment. The yield of plant nutrients like nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) get decreased which affects the plant growth. And there can also be an increase in soil salinity.

Abstract: Our project on trouble shooting & performance enhancement of activated sludge process treating waste water of a textile industry located in garden silk mills limited, vareli, kadodara;dist.surat.Hear, bleached cloth is coloured with dyes of various type, and printed with various design. waste water produced in this section is difficult to treat, especially from the point of view of colour removal and reduction of oxygen demand. The untreated textile wastewater can cause rapid depletion of dissolved oxygen if it is directly discharged into the surface water sources due to its high BOD value. Our main objective is to identify the problem in aeration tank of effluent treatment plant treating textile wastewater than to to suggest the remedial measures to ensure the proper operation of activated sludge process (ASP) and also to improve the overall removal efficiency interms of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) from the ASP.

IDP/UDP Field: Improvement in start up of Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket(UASB)Reactor
Abstract: The up flow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) process is the most successful new an aerobic reactor design for various industrial and municipal waste water. The start- up time of UASB reactor affects the whole system. Start-up is defined as “The act or instance of setting in operation or motion.” As been shown to be promising . If start-up of UASB reactor complete in less time the removal efficiency of system is improved in terms of COD and BOD. There is a need of faster start up of UASB in sewage treatment plant. UASB start up takes time and it is crucial part for successful operation. Successful start up is required so identification of methodology for successful granulation is required. In the present study, performance enhancement of start-up of UASB reactor and the identification of methodology will be studied.
